Description

SAG 38 is a high gloss ultra clear durable polyester film with good UV and abrasion resistance. Thanks to its good solvent resistance, graffiti can be easily wiped clean from SAG 38.

Construction:
Face material:
1.5mil (36 ?m) UV and abrasion resistant PET film.
Adhesive:
Long life clear acrylic pressure-sensitive.
Liner:
1.4mil (36 ?m) clear PET

Typical Uses:
SAG 38 is a lamination film developed to protect
private or public transport vehicles and areas (trains,
subways, tramways, buses…) that require a graffiti
protection.
SAG 38 is not directly applied on the vehicles but is
first laminated to a pressure sensitive (SAG 29 for
decoration with a printed image or MACal 9800 Pro
for decoration with a plain color). This combination
of films can be applied only onto flat surfaces.
Application on riveted, embossed or curved surfaces
is not recommended. The edges of the product could
be affected in the case of frequent contact with
solvents.

Note: SAG 38 increases the impact resistance of
windows. For safety reasons (emergency exits), it is
important to keep some windows per carriage
unprotected.

Durability:2 Years
Note: Exposure to severe temperatures and
ultraviolet light, as well as conditions in southern US
states and European countries, and in tropical, subtropical
or desert regions, will cause a more rapid
deterioration. This also applies to polluted areas, high
altitude and south-facing exposure.

Chemical resistance: ANSI Z26.1 test #14 (non-stressed).
Resistant to non-abrasive soaps, denatured alcohol,
water, detergents and most diluted acids and alkalis.
Not affected by short term contact with most of
aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, esters,
chlorinated hydrocarbons and alcohol.

Processing
Lamination
Mactac recommends to laminate SAG 38 on the vinyl
film (SAG 29 or MACal 9800 Pro) with a
professional laminator.
Application
To be done on a clean and degreased substrate with
the dry application method.
Maintenance and cleaning
The cleaning solution must be wet, non-abrasive,
without strong solvents and have a pH value between
3 and 11.
Product removal
Removal of SAG 38 and vinyl laminate will be made
easier using heat. The remaining adhesive residue
can be removed using isopropyl alcohol.
Note: more adhesive residue will remain on surfaces
using nitro-cellulosic paints and abraded paints.
Removability is not warranted where varnishes or
paints have not been fully oven dried or have
insufficient anchorage to the substrate (i.e. due to the
presence of rust, chipped paint…). We recommend
removing the film at an angle of 90°, slowly and at a
constant speed. Any adhesive residue can be
removed with isopropyl alcohol.
